2026 Battle for the Springhouse: Great performances abounded inside Colonial Hall
Exciting games and big performances highlighted the action at The Greenbrier

The 2026 Battle for the Springhouse event was one for the ages and will be talked about for years.
Here are some of the shining moments from this year's event.
Both championship games were one possession thrillers decided in the final seconds.
Bridgeport captured the boys title on a 3-pointer to beat the horn, while the girls title tilt required overtime and was also settled in the waning seconds.
Greenbrier East, ranked No. 1 in Class AAA, won the girls title for the second year in a row, giving the Lady Spartans their third crown in the five-year history of the event.

The Lady Spartans defeated AAAA No. 4 Morgantown, 57-55 on a Ava Workman runner with seven seconds to play.
Class AAAA No. 4 Morgantown walked away with a mild upset of AAAA No. 3 Parkersburg in the girls semifinal round Friday to advance to the championship.
On the boys side, AA No. 4 James Monroe stunned AAA No. 6 Greenbrier East in overtime Friday night before AA No. 2 Wyoming East ousted the Spartans Saturday.
Needless to say, along with the great games came some outstanding performances.
Here are 10 players that had either a standout tournament, or a big game to help their team garner a critical win.
The list will be in no particular order, but if there was a Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Greenbrier East girls standout, Ava Workman would be the clear choice for that honor.

1. Workman totaled 57 points in the two wins for the Lady Spartans. After a 27-point performance against Riverside, the junior scored 30 points in the championship game, including the game-winner in overtime. Workman also scored the 1,000th point of her career Saturday night.
