2026 Battle for the Springhouse: Wyoming East bounces back with a strong win Saturday
Talan Muscari drops 23 points to lead the Warriors past Greenbrier East

Saturday afternoon was a bit of a gut check in the boys consolation game of The Battle for the Springhouse inside The Greenbrier.
Wyoming East and Greenbrier East both entered the game following frustrating losses Friday night.
The class AA No. 2-ranked Warriors were coming off of their worst, and vastly uncharacteristic, performance of the year against Class AAA No. 2-rated Bridgeport.
A miserable shooting night, turnovers and an efficient Indians effort on both ends of the floor led to a 70-44 loss.
The Spartans, ranked No. 6 in Class AAA, surrendered a 13-point lead late in the third quarter, falling to AA No. 5 James Monroe, 70-67 in overtime the same night.
When the final horn sounded, Wyoming East was the team that answered the bell.
Riding a 23-points performance from freshman Talan Muscari, the Warriors defeated Greenbrier East 65-54.
Wyoming East head coach Kent McBride discussed the bounce-back effort by his team.
Junior Keegan Davidson started the scoring for the Warriors, who never trailed in the contest, with a 3-ball on the opening possession.
The Spartans tied the game twice in the opening quarter, but trailed 21-17 after the first stanza.
A bucket from Darius Burns trimmed the deficit to two points early in the second period before Muscari started to heat.

The all-state sophomore was perfect on four attempts from behind the arc in the period sparking Wyoming East to a 38-30 lead at the break.
The Warriors proceeded to start strong in the second half, taking a 13-point lead on a Broc Johnson 3-pointer midway through the third period.
Just when Greenbrier East looked knocked out, the Spartans clawed their way back to within six points on a Braylen Godfrey bucket to beat the horn.

Trailing by seven points, Burns knocked down a 3-pointer to pull the Spartans within four points with 3:53 to play.
However, Greenbrier East could get no closer.
Konnor Fox scored inside ahead of a barrage of free throws from the Warriors to secure the win.
Davidson finished with 15 points, while Johnson netted 13 points and had seven rebounds. Fox pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Hamric paced the Spartans with 18 points, six rebounds and four steals. Burns scored 15 points and Dixon added nine.
Both teams converted 21 field goals, but Wyoming East had a 9-5 edge in 3-pointers and made seven more free throws, most coming down the stretch.
