2026 Girls WVCAT Championship: Summit Christian win 5th consecutive title
Lady Falcons pull away in the second half for a 39-29 win over Mt. Hope Christian

It has been said that three times is the charm.
When it comes to Summit Christian girls basketball, it's five.
Saturday afternoon inside the Summersville Arena and Conference Center, the Falcons were once again champions of the annual West Virginia Christian Athletic Tournament.
Fighting off a sluggish start and some cold shooting, the Falcons rallied for a 39-29 win over Mt. Hope Christian to extend their recent dominance of the tournament.
Dating back to when the school was Mercer Christian Academy, Saturday's win ran the championship streak to five in a row.
Head coach Jessica Patton discussed the win for her team.
Summit Christian started fast taking a 6-0 lead before the scoring dried up and the Warriors started heating up.
A couple of 3-pointers from Rachel Pritt highlighted a 13-0 run to flip the momentum over to Mt. Hope Christian.
Unfortunately for Warriors, the burst was short-lived and the Falcons battled back for a 16-15 lead at the break.

Pritt drilled her third long ball of the game to open the second half, but the momentum gained was instantly halted by the play of Abby Greer.
Greer battled for an offensive rebound and converted the stickback ahead of a run-out, giving her team the lead for good.
Jocelyn Hall pushed the lead to four points with a stick back and the Falcons carried a 26-21 lead into the final period.
Summit Christian scored the first six points of the final quarter for the first double-digit margin of the game, but the Warriors still had some fight in them.
Six quick points forced a timeout by Patton who used her guards to spread the floor.
Moving the ball around the floor, Greer found an opening inside for Jordin Hawks who converted the old-school 3-point play, restoring order for the Falcons who were not threatened the rest of the way.

Greer led Summit Christian with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Ella Botts added 11 to go along with five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Hall contributed eight points and had five steals. Hawks and Jalyn Bailey both scored five points.
Pritt paced the Warriors with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, giving her 52 long balls on the year.
Sophie Pack scored nine points, while Ava Yates and McKenna Jones both scored three points.
Greer and Hall were named to the All-Tournament team, along with Pack and Landri Flohr from Mt. Hope Christian.
Botts was named the Tournament MVP after coming back from a serious knee injury late in the soccer season.
Botts talked about the game, just her fourth of the season, and the comeback from the knee injury.
