Beckley Post 32 Top Prospects Junior Legion took its undefeated record to Charleston Tuesday night and returned home with a pair of key area wins.

Riding a dominant pitching performance to start the day and some explosive bats in the nightcap, the Top Prospects (9-0) beat Charleston Post 65, 2-0 and 16-7 to sweep the doubleheader.

In the opening contest, runs were scarce, but Beckley only needed the one run to earn the win thanks to a combined no-hitter from Micah Cuthbert and Eli Hilling.

Hilling opened the game by not allowing a hit in a scoreless first frame and Cuthbert followed suit, keeping Charleston out of the hit column over the next six innings to complete the no-no.

The first run for Post 32 came in the top of the first inning.

Hilling was hit by a pitch and moved to third on a single from Miken Smyth. Gage Price's ground ball made it 1-0 and became the eventual game winner.

Post 32 added the final run of the game in fourth inning.

Clay Patton worked a one-out walk and moved to third on a double from Brady Williams. Patton then stole home to make it 2-0 Beckley.

Never owning a commanding lead, Cuthbert's performance was masterful and so was the defense behind him.

Over his six innings of work, only one Charleston batter reached base and was immediately erased on a double play in the third frame.

Game two was a sharp contrast to the opener for Beckley who pounded out 13 hits in its 16-run attack.

Post 32 wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the first inning, keyed by a two-run double from Smyth.

The lead was short lived however, when walks, two hit batters and two costly errors allowed Post 65 to score six runs.

Undaunted by the quick deficit, Beckley rallied for two runs in the third and three more in fourth for an 8-6 lead.

With the advantage down to one run heading to the sixth, Post 32 erupted for seven runs to put the game away.

Smyth also had a triple and a total of four RBI's for Beckley, while Williams tallied two hits and three RBI's.

Landon Wyatt and Gage Price both had two hits and Channing Sarver drove in a pair of runs for Beckley.
