The 2025 high school softball season is now down to four teams in each class.

The final run to the championship starts Wednesday at Little Creek Park in South Charleston and continues through Saturday.

The first two days will see the Class A and AA titles decided, while Class AAA and AAAA will play Friday and Saturday.

Locally, Greenbrier West and Liberty have advanced to the final four in their respective classes and are two wins away from the first softball titles in school history.

Both teams will play at approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in game two of the opening session. The first games will start at 9:30 a.m.

The Cavaliers last competed on the big stage in 2023, while the Raiders are back for the first time since 2011.

Both teams will have their hands full in game one.

Greenbrier West will match up with Wahama which, ironically, was the state champion back in 2023.

Treadway

The White Falcons (27-6) have a team batting average just a tick under .400 and have six players batting .389 or better.

Sophomore Audrey Reynolds leads Wahama hitting .582, with 37 RBI and 20 extra base hits. Senior Kalyn Christian follows at .470, including 36 RBI and four home runs.

Junior Fiona VanMatre leads the team in RBI with 39 and hits at a .430 clip. Christian and VanMatre both have 19 extra base knocks.

Senior Kate Reynolds is the fourth White Falcon hitting over .400. Reynolds has 34 RBI and also has four long balls.

Elissa Hoffman controls the circle with a 19-5 record. Across 135.2 innings, the Wahama senior has 94 strikeouts and a 2.53 ERA.

The White Falcons have regular season wins over Herbert Hoover (AAA) and St. Albans (AAAA). Both teams are in the state tournament in their respective classes.

Greenbrier West is led by junior all-stater Brilee Redden who is hitting .543 and has been red-hot in the postseason. Redden has 44 hits with 28 going for extra bases. She also has 30 RBI and 10 home runs hitting from the lead-off position..

Battery-mate Brooklyn Adkins hits .400 with a team-high 33 RBI and three dingers.

Fields

Seniors Maddie Fields and Preslee Treadway are both speedsters hitting just under .400. They have combined for 14 doubles, 10 triples, seven homers and 51 RBI.

Diana Porter, Kyndall Taylor and Ava Price add more pop to the Cavalier line-up.

Redden has done the bulk of the work in the circle, but Taylor has given Greenbrier West a solid second option as well. Redden has 140 strikeouts in 91.2 innings.

Trinity Christian (13-10) and Pendleton County (29-2) will meet in the opening game for Class A at 9:30 a.m.

Liberty on the other hand will do battle with Logan (22-6) for the AA title.

The Wildcats have one of the top pitchers in the Mountain State in Myleigh Adkins (18-2), sporting a 1.56 ERA. Over 143.1 innings, Adkins has 260 strikeouts and has only allowed 32 earned runs.

The junior righty is also lethal at the dish with a .487 batting average and 37 RBI. Adkins has 12 home runs and 37 hits on the year.

Lauren Adkins (.393) and Ashlin Brumfield (.390) have also been serious threats for Logan. Brumfield has 32 hits, eight home runs and 29 RBI, while Lauren Adkins has 33 hits and 14 RBI.

Wins for the Wildcats include two against Independence (AAA), along with Hoover, St. Albans and Oak Glen (AA state tournament participant). Logan also went 10 innings with Cabell Midland (AAAA) before losing 6-5.

The good news for the Raiders is they have been swinging a hot bat during the postseason.

Mullens

Freshman Alyssa Scarbro has been the table setter, hitting .506 in the lead-off position. Scarbro has 43 hits and has cored 39 runs.

Katie Mullens (.470) leads the team in RBI with 28 and has 39 hits, including 22 for extra bases. Allie Bowles hits .494 including 40 hits and 23 RBI.

Senior McKinlea Hill (.416) and freshman Stella Brown (.402) have combined for 50 hits and 39 RBI.

Maddie Cox has been the workhorse in the circle for the Raiders and was solid in the regional championship win.

Oak Glen (27-10) and Petersburg (21-10) will meet in the opening AA game.

The two losing teams in each class will meet in an elimination game at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday with the winners playing 30 minutes after the conclusion.

Thursday will open with another elimination game, followed by the championship series.
