Harris' Blast Keeps Sophia LL All-Stars Alive

Lewisburg - When the Sophia and Beckley Little league Baseball All-Stars meet up, it always seems to be a thriller.
Tuesday night was no exception under the stiffest of circumstances.
With both teams facing elimination in the District 4 Little League All-Star Baseball Tournament, the battle came down to one swing by Jax Harris.
Stepping to the plate in a tie game with two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Harris launched a drive deep into the night behind the left-field fence for the eventual game-winner.
The blast was Harris' first career home run.

In what was a see-saw affair, Beckley jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Daniel Gardner doubled home two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Sophia cut the deficit in half on an RBI-triple from Carson Ballard in the third frame before tying the game an inning later.
Sammy Sallaz doubled and moved to third on a single from Bryson Harmon where he scored on a ground ball from Brady Mills.
Sophia took it's first lead of the game in the fifth when Aiden Lawson doubled to lead off the at-bat. Dylan Frazier tripled home Lawson and then scored on a double from Brayden Emmert for a 4-2 lead.
Beckley responded with two run in the bottom of the inning, scoring on a ground ball out from Kash Cantley and an RBI-single from Gage Reynolds.
Sophia will face another elimination game Wednesday night at 8 p.m. when it battles Princeton back at Hollowell Field in Lewisburg. Princeton beat Trap Hill Tuesday to keep its tournament dreams alive.
