Regional Track Comes to Beckley This Week
Pete Culicerto Track at Woodrow Wilson High School will be a busy place this week thanks to Region 3 boys and girls state meet track qualifying at Van Meter Stadium.
The action starts Wednesday with Class AA, followed by Class AAA Thursday and Class A competes Friday.
The 16 individual and relay team qualifiers for running, shot put, discus and long jump events for the state meet will be determined as follows:
1. The top two individuals and relay teams from each region will qualify.
2. The 9-16 qualifying positions will be determined by the next eight fastest times/distances from the statewide regional results.
3. The State Meet Games Committee will develop a tie breaking procedure to be instituted if needed. This procedure will be included in the Games Committee Report.
Each Regional Meet will qualify the top four (4) individuals in the high jump and pole vault plus any additional athletes who meet or better the qualifying standard for the State Meet. If there is a tie for 4th-place that does not meet the State Qualifying Standard that tie must be worked off utilizing the tie breaking procedure that is normally used for 1st place.
