Westside all-stater Kadien Vance signs with Concord University football

Playing a college sport was never really a question for Westside three-sport standout Kadien Vance.
The only real decisions were which school and which sport would he choose.
Concord University football was the winner and there is no doubt, the Mountain Lions snared one of the best athletes in the Mountain State.
Vance has earned all-state honors in football, basketball and baseball during his high school career.
He was also a key component in the Renegades return to the state football playoffs and the state basketball tournament this year.

During his senior season as the signal-caller, Vance completed over 67 percent of his 259 pass attempts for a total of 2,316 yards. The future Mountain Lion tossed 28 touchdowns and rushed for 747 yards. Thirteen of this carries went for a score.
Former head coach Justin Cogar talked about one of the greatest athletes to ever walk the halls at Westside High School.
On the basketball court this year, Vance averaged nearly 15 points per game and right at nine rebounds per game. The Westside standout also helped lead the Renegades earn their first state tournament win since 2015.
In the quarterfinal game against Doddridge County, Vance poured in 26 points and nailed a career best, six long balls, going 6-for-8 from deep.
Nick Cook returned to the sideline this year to guide the Westside basketball. Cook has known Vance for many years and added his thoughts on one of his star players.
In earning all-state honors his junior season on the diamond, Vance hit .486 with a .581 on base percentage and .671 slugging percentage. He tallied 34 hits in 23 games with 28 RBI.

After playing in the prestigious Scott Brown-Little General Invitational All-star basketball game back in April, Vance will close out his high school career with the rare accomplishment of playing both the North-South football game and the basketball game the day before.
