American Legion Baseball: Beckley Bash Post 32 erases slow starts to sweep Doddridge Summer Dawgs
Beckley wins 7-2 in game one and 12-2 in game two

Beckley Bash Post 32 didn't exactly come flying out of the gate in the doubleheader battle with Doddridge Summers Dawgs.
However, once Post 32 stepped on the accelerator, the Beckley boys were like a runaway freight train Saturday afternoon on Access Health Field at Linda K. Epling Stadium.
Erasing 2-0 deficits in both contests, Beckley beat Doddridge 7-2 in game one before winning game two, 12-2 in six innings.

Doddridge starter Hunter Hayhurst was masterful over the first four frames, holding Beckley without a hit.
Over that span the Summers Dawgs had pushed across a pair of runs for a 2-0 lead.
Hayhurst appeared to be headed for a clean fifth inning before a two-out walk to Levi Barnett came back to haunt the young right-hander.

Zach Hunt stepped in and air-mailed the right fielder for a triple to score Barnett before he scored on a single from Maddex Sims to tie the game, a batter later.
With Hayhurst now out of the game, Beckley built on its momentum scoring five runs in the next at-bat.
The big inning included four walks, an error, a two-RBI single from Levi Barnett and a sacrifice fly from Hunt.

Sam Barnett and Brady Williams combined for the final three-and-two-thirds innings to keep the Dawgs in check, allowing zero runs and scattering just four hits.
Game two was a carbon copy of the opener.
Doddridge scored two runs in the third inning, but once again, Post 32 stormed back for the decisive win.
An RBI-single from Miken Smyth in the fourth inning sliced the Doddridge lead in half before Beckley piled on four more runs in the fifth frame.

Gage Price opened the fifth inning with a blast over the left field fence to momentarily tie the game ahead of back-to-back singles from Hunt and Nelson Lynch.
Sims then ripped a third single to give Beckley the lead for good and two more runs crossed on a single from Degan Williams and a bases loaded walk to Aiden Calvert.
Doddridge missed a golden opportunity to score in the sixth inning when it loaded the bases with one out, but a strikeout and a pop out ended the brief threat.
Beckley slammed the door in the sixth inning.
Sims pushed across the first run of the seven-run inning ahead of Degan Williams who smacked a bases loaded triple for a 9-2 lead.
Smyth followed with an RBI-single and Sam Barnett walked it off with a two-RBI double for the 12-2 win.
