Bridgeport - Beckley Post 32 had not fielded an American Junior Legion Baseball team since 2007 until this summer.

Now the Beckley boys are the West Virginia Junior Legion State Champions.

Scoring seven runs across the first two frames, Beckley Post 32 beat Wheeling Post 1, 10-4, to claim the title at Bridgeport High School.

Eli Hilling, Brady Williams, Gaige Price and Noah Fox had two hits apiece, while Sam Barnett drove in two runs to pace Post 32. Hilling also had a double.

Miken Smyth and Clay Patton both added an RBI.

Price pitched the first three-and-a-third innings, allowing only two earned runs. Brayden Keith came on to close out the game, going three-and-two-thirds shutout innings, surrendering two hits.

Wheeling took the opener against Beckley, 2-1, on a walk-off in the eighth inning, to force the decisive game.

Sam Barnett from Beckley and Brady Ernest from Wheeling both went the maximum amount of pitches in the opener without allowing a run.

Nelson Lynch scored Hilling on a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth to give Beckley a 1-0 lead before Wheeling answered in the bottom of the frame.

A costly Beckley error and a hit batter aided the Wheeling cause who scored on a single from Jake Brown and a game-winning sacrifice fly from Clayton Petry.
