Beckley Bash Post 32 splits with Charleston Post 65
Brown Tosses Three-hit Shutout in Game Two for Beckley

After winning the Mountaineer Country Invitational this past weekend, the Beckley Bash Post 32 looked to keep the momentum going when it hosted Charleston Post 65 in an Area doubleheader Wednesday at Linda K. Epling Stadium.
The night was a little Jekyll and Hyde for the Bash Boys.
Following a somewhat sloppy performance in game one that helped lead to a 16-2 setback, former Nicholas County all-stater Cole Brown steadied the ship in the nightcap for a 2-0 win to garner a split.
Coming off of a couple of rough starts, Brown was back to his old self from the opening pitch Wednesday.

The current WVU Tech hurler did not allow a hit until the fourth inning, while striking out six Post 65 batters in the first three frames.
That runner was quickly eliminated by Jake Meadows in centerfield when he tried to advance later on a fly ball out.
Charleston's next hit came as a one-out single in the sixth, but was eliminated on a double play. Braden Kiblinger gobbled up the grounder, touched second and fired on to first for the twin killing.
A one-out double from Jason Ferrell and a walk in the seventh gave Charleston some hope, but Ferrell was caught stealing third base prior to Brown coaxing a fly ball out for the win.
Beckley did not exactly light it up at the play, but gave Brown enough runs to get the win. The Bash scored both runs in the first inning.

Zach Hunt's sacrifice fly plated the eventual game-winner and Ashton Cochran later doubled home Degan Williams for the 2-0 lead.
A two-out error in the first inning of game one cracked the door open for Charleston and Post 65 came storming though to take the lead and the early momentum.
Two singles and double from Evan Wilson pushed four runs across and the visitors never looked back.
Beckley (14-8-1) answered with an RBI-double from Maddex Sims and an RBI from Hunt, but Wilson short-circuited Beckley the rest of the way.
Two more Beckley errors in the third inning and four Charleston hits made it a 9-2 game.
Wilson was the main story for Charleston (9-10-2), both on the mound and at the plate. The big right-hander pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits, while driving in eight runs, including a grand slam.

The Beckley Bash is back in action Saturday at Linda K. Epling Stadium against Morgantown Post 2 at 7:30 p.m.
The game is part of a big day of baseball with the Beckley Post 32 Jr. Legion hosting Winfield Post 187 in a doubleheader starting at 1:30 p.m.
The night will be capped off with a huge fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day.
