Charleston - On a night where both games could have gone either way, Beckley Bash Post 32 made the key plays and had the timely hits to leave town with a doubleheader sweep of Charleston Post 65.

The visitors escaped the opener with an 8-5 win before grabbing 10-4 victory in the nightcap.

Beckley took an early 3-0 lead in the opener, but surrendered four runs in the bottom of the third inning to trail 5-3.

After scratching out a run in the sixth, Beckley completed the comeback with four, two-out runs in the seventh.

Cunningham

Zach Hunt opened the final frame with a double and was lifted for courtesy runner, Brayden Kiblinger. Jake Meadows moved Kiblinger to third on a ground ball where he later scored on a passed ball to tie the game 5-5.

Cole Cunningham provided the game-winning single before a Charleston error allowed two more runs to cross for the 8-5 win.

Sam Barnett picked up the win after coming on to pitch 4.1 scoreless innings. Cunningham had two hits, while Cole Brown, Ashton Cochran, Aiden Calvert and Hunt each had an RBI.

Beckley did the bulk of its game-two damage in the final two innings breaking open a scoreless game with four runs in the sixth. However, the story of the game was Post 32's ability to work out of three crucial jams.

Charleston threatened in the first moving runners to second and third with just one out before a fly out in foul territory by first base and a ground out ended the threat.

The next tense moment for the Bash came in bottom of the third when Post 65 loaded the bases with one out. Eli Green came up with a big strikeout ahead of another ground ball to shutdown the uprising.

A walk and an error set the table for Meadows in the sixth who ripped a double to left field scoring both runners, breaking the scoreless tie. Cunningham later doubled the advantage with a two-RBI single.

Meadows

The home team responded with a run in the bottom of the inning and once again had the basses juiced, but, for a third time, Beckley escaped any major damage with a ground ball out.

All of the missed opportunities for Charleston came full circle when Beckley slammed the door by scoring six runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Meadows ended with three RBI's and Cunningham had two. Cochran, Kiblinger and Grayson Kesterson each had one RBI. Maddex Sims collected three hits, including a double and Cochran had a triple.

Beckley Bash Post 32 (8-2) is back in action this weekend in Garner, N.C.
