Hinkle, Hutchison, Beard and Ward inside the top-10

Davis - Wednesday on day two of the 2025 West Virginia Junior Amateur played at Canaan Valley Resort there were plenty of red numbers recorded.
Tommy Evans and Jack Michael held the top two spots, respectively, after the opening round and both former WV Class AAA state champions were on fire Wednesday to separate from the field.

A rising-junior at Washington High School in Charles Town, Evans went bogey-free with seven birdies for a round of 65 (7-under), while Michael, a Cabell Midland graduate, recorded eight birdies and one bogey for his round of 65.
Evans has a two-day total of 129 (15-under) to lead Michael by four shots heading into the final round Thursday.
Cart Hinkle (Graham state champion) also had a strong round of 68 (4-under) to move into third place, five shots back of Michael.
Greenbrier East all-stater Isaac Hutchison was under par for the second day in a row, shooting 70 (2-under) and is now tied for fifth with Stephen McDavid at 141. Hutchison recorded five birdies and three bogeys.
Shady Spring all-stater Tyler Beard moved into red figures for the tournament with a round of 70, making three birdies against just one bogey. Beard is tied for seventh with Cam Fallon at 143.

After shooting 75's on day one, Shady Spring all-state golfer Cooper Ward and Carson Higginbotham both shot 69 Wednesday to move inside the top-10. The twosome are now tied with Justus Mann and Lee Willard in ninth.
