
HS Baseball: Independence topples Sissonville; Liberty beats Summers
Independence 8, Sissonville 6
Sissonville - Trailing 6-5, Independence scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to defeat Sissonville in a key Class AAA Region 3 battle.
A two-out double from Levi Barnett scored Andrew Coalson to tie them game, before Degan Williams singled home Barnett for the eventual game winner. A double from Cole Cunningham added to the lead and the Patriots held on for the win.
Chance Moore earned the complete game win, allowing just three earned runs.
Barnett finished with two hits and three RBI, while Cunningham and Williams also had two hits and two RBI.
Justin Williams had two hits and Micah Cuthbert had an RBI for the Patriots.

Liberty 12, Summers County 2 (5 innings)
Hinton - Liberty raced out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back in a 12-2 win over Summers County in five innings.
Jayden Acord had three hits and three RBI, while Chase Shea had a double and also drove in three runs for the Raiders.
Isaac Williams collected three hits and had one RBI. Brayden Keith, Parker Hodges and Cayden Cook had an RBI. Logan Ellis had a pair of hits as well for Liberty.
Hodges earned the win scattering five hits and allowing just one earned run.
Jake Boone had two hits for the Bobcats, including a double.
