HS Boys Basketball: Wyoming East holds off Bluefield in AA Region 3 thriller

The clashes in AA Region 3 boys basketball are expected to be down to the wire thrillers this year.

Tuesday night in New Richmond, that was the case where No. 2 Wyoming East knocked off No. 4 Bluefield, 62-56.

A tie game after one quarter became a two-point Bluefield lead at the break when Jase Smith beat the horn for a 30-28 advantage for the visitors.

The Warriors took a four-point lead into the fourth quarter by outscoring the Beavers 23-17.

Keegan Davidson capped the quarter with his own buzzer-beater which was part of an 11-point quarter for the all-stater.

Defense owned the final eight minutes as Wyoming East limited Bluefield to just nine points to bring home the win.

Davidson led the home squad with 26, followed by Broc Johnson with 15 points and Braxton Morgan scored 12.

Smith netted 24 for the Beavers, while Ricky Dunford and Davion Hickman each scored 10 points. Grayson Parrish added nine.

Wyoming East travels to Westside Friday night. Bluefield visits Tug Valley Friday.
