HS Boys Basketball: Wyoming East survives upset bid from Summit Christian
Warriors knock off the Falcons 68-67 in the season opener for both teams

Princeton - Summit Christian Academy became a first-year member of the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission for the 2025-26 school year.
Tuesday night, the Falcons boys basketball team let it be known they plan to be a handful.
Opening the season against Class AA No. 2 Wyoming East at home, Class A No. 8 Summit Christian stood toe-to-toe with the Warriors in a narrow 68-67 setback.
Wyoming East head coach Kent McBride talked about the battle with Summit Christian.
Offensively Wyoming East was stout early in the game, building an 18-10 lead before Summit roared back to take the lead.
However, with the score tied 25-25, Falcons big man Kyler Carpenter was whistled with his third foul with just over three minutes to play in the half.
The visitors used the advantage to build a 37-30 halftime lead, but could never shake the upset-minded Falcons.

Trailing 51-41 heading into the final period, Summit quickly cut the lead to five points in what became a wild back-and-forth slugfest.
A triple from Talan Muscari and an old-school 3-point play from running mate Keegan Davidson restore the 10-point bulge with 6:28 to play.
The Falcons once again stormed back and when Dylan Jones drilled a long ball at the 3:11 mark, the deficit was back to five points.
A Broc Johnson 3-pointer and a floater from Muscari pushed the lead out to 10 late in the contest, but the fireworks were far from over.
Eli Patton and Adam Jones went back-to-back from behind the arc to bring the Falcons within four with just over 30 seconds to play.
Johnson was fouled and converted both free-throws before Patton canned another long ball to cut the deficit to 67-64, but time was working against the upset bid.

Muscari hit the second of two free-throws ahead of a three-quarter court heave from Patton that banked for the 68-67 final.
Patton led the Falcons with a game-high 30 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists. Dylan Jones added 14 points and Adam Jones scored 12. Carpenter finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
Johnson paced a balanced attack for the Warriors with 20 points, while Davidson and Konnor Fox had 18 points each. Muscari chipped in nine.
Summit head coach Matt Patton gave his perspective of the tussle to open the season.
