Midland Trail football is off to a solid start with wins over Clay County and Poca.

After knocking off the Panthers 41-13 in week one, the Patriots steamrolled the Dots, 55-0 behind a powerful defensive performance.

Roop

Trail rang up eight sacks, four interceptions and held Poca to minus-34 yards of total offense.

While the Dots were riding the struggle bus, the Patriots were running at will on the visitors from Putnam County.

Jayden Roop tallied 224 yards on 15 carries and scored three times, while Max White, Aiden Weis and Jacob Ewing all had one rushing touchdown.

The 375-yard performance comes on the heels of a 273-yard game against Clay County. The Patriots also had five sacks and two interceptions in the opening game win.

Next up for Midland Trail will be a pesky bunch from Braxton County, leading into the meat of the Patriots schedule.

Coach Moore talked with me Monday about how the season is progressing and what to expect from the Eagles Friday.
