
HS Football: Greenbrier East falls to Alleghany
Cougars never trail in a 36-26 win over the Spartans

Fairlea - Greenbrier East dropped its first game of the season Friday night, 36-26 to Alleghany, VA.
The Cougars never trailed in the contest but could never truly pull away from the Spartans.
Alleghany (2-0) scored four times on the ground, including three from quarterback Des Jordan, despite being held to 169 yards rushing.
Carter Knicely added a rushing touchdown for the Cougars and Buddy Leisure-White scored on a 58-yard fumble return.
A.J. Godfrey had another strong night for Greenbrier East with 143 yards on 26 carries, scoring three touchdowns.
Brody Hamric threw for 206 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown pass to Grant Burdette who five grabs for 124 yards.
The Spartans (2-1) are off next Friday and will host Oak Hill on Sept. 26.
