HS Football: Independence steamrolls Scott
Patriots compile 527 yards of total offense and hold the Skyhawks to 101 on a 53-0 shutout

Last year in Coal City, Independence built an early lead and was forced to hold off a late rally from Scott in a 30-24 win.
Friday night in Madison, the outcome was never in doubt.
Accumulating over 500 yards of total offense, the Patriots steamrolled the Skyhawks, 53-0 to remain undefeated.

Senior Sylas Nelson only ran the ball 13 times Friday, but turned those touches into 189 yards and three touchdowns, while sophomore quarterback Brock Green completed nine passes for 265 yards and three more scores.
Green tossed two scoring strikes to freshman KI.J. Viars who had four catches for 106 yards and one more to senior Christian Linksweiler. Linksweiler ended the night with 111 yards on four grabs as well.
Defensively the Patriots recorded its second straight shutout allowing just one yard rushing and 100 yards through the air.
Independence (4-0) will now host Bluefield (3-1) in a huge AA showdown Friday night.
