HS Football: James Monroe cruises past Greenbrier West
Mavericks build 35-0 halftime lead en route to a 42-7 win

Charmco - Greenbrier West and James Monroe have waged some classic battles the last few seasons.
The match-up Friday night did not fall into that category.

Racing out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter, the AA No. 12 rated Mavericks rolled past the Class A No. 16 Cavaliers, 42-7.
Following a sluggish start in the win over Narrows, VA two weeks back, James Monroe head coach John Mustain did not want to see a repeat against Greenbrier West.
The Mavericks obliged and never looked back.
Kadyn Hines grabbed a slant pass from Ryan Mann and turned it into a 68-yard touchdown on the second play of the game.
Brock Parker followed with a four-yard run before Mann found Andrew Weikle on another slant route for a 46-yard score with 56 seconds left in the opening quarter.
Hines added a pair of scores in the second period for a 35-0 advantage at the break.
The West Virginia University baseball commit first raced 79 yards with a interception for his second score of the game.

Hines then completed the first half trifecta with a nice athletic move inside the five-yard line on a 21-yard touchdown pass.
Parker pushed the lead to 42-0 on a five-yard run early in the third quarter to force a rolling clock.
Greenbrier West prevented the shutout on a tipped pass that found its way into the hands of Mason Ward who carried it in for a 42-yard score.
Mann passed for 153 yards and ran for 64 yards, while Hines had 99 yards on three catches.
Parker carried the ball 12 times for 93 yards.
The visitors had 398 yards of total offense and yielded only 147 yards to the home team.
James Monroe (5-1) hosts AA No. 8 Midland Trail Friday night, while Greenbrier West (2-4) hosts Class A No. 13 Montcalm for Homecoming Friday.
