The Mavericks picked up their second straight win on the road to open the season with a 26-7 win over Shady Spring at H.B. Thomas Field.

Jayden Miller ran for 78 yards on seven carries and scored three times for James Monroe.
Bryce Gardinier added a 12-yard touchdown gallop, while the Mavericks defense held the Tigers under 50 yards of total offense on the night.
James Monroe (2-0) will host Bluefield (1-1) in its home opener Friday, while Shady Spring (1-1) will welcome Nicholas County (0-2).
