Lindside - Class AA No. 9 James Monroe scored 29 points in the second quarter and rolled past Class A No. 7 Tug Valley, 49-6 Friday.

Bryce Gardinier answered a second quarter touchdown from the Panthers with a 78-yard kick return to jump-start the Mavericks.

Senior Ryan Mann then scored on a four-yard run before Kadyn Hines blocked a punt for a safety.

Brock Parker pushed the lead to 23-6 on a one-yard plunge and Mann completed the 29-point outburst with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Weikle.

Parker scored his second touchdown of the night in the third quarter on a six-yard run. Parker ended the night with 138 yards on 18 carries.

Gardinier then came up with his second big play of the night when he picked off a pass and rolled 40 yards for a score.

Ben Comer closed out the scoring with a 39-yard jaunt.

Both teams will have playoff games next week with times and opponents to be determined.
