Mavericks score 26 unanswered points to run past Narrows in a border battle

Narrows, VA - Ryan Mann ran for three touchdowns and passed for another to lead James Monroe past Narrows, 38-8 Friday.

Mann scored twice on three-yard runs in the first half to give the Mavericks a 12-0 lead at halftime.

The home team trimmed the deficit to 12-8 on a 78-yard kick return, but it was all James Monroe going forward.

Mann found Brycen Gardinier for a 71-yard touchdown less than a minute later to restore order for the Monroe County boys.

Brock Parker pushed the lead to 25-8 on a four-yard plunge ahead of Gardinier's second score of the night, a 38-yard dash.

Mann wrapped up the scoring with a seven-yard touchdown run.

While rushing for 46 yards, the senior quarterback threw for 213 yards on 13-of-19 passes.
