Tigers rush for 305 yards to defeat the Spartans 46-37

Fairlea - Class AA No. 9-seed Chapmanville defeated No. 8 Greenbrier East 46-37 Friday at Spartans Stadium in a see-saw battle.

Nate Suttle had an 83-yard kick return for a score to open the game and Brayden Brown returned a fumble 64 yards for another score for the Spartans.

East quarterback Brody Hamric threw for 227 yards and three touchdown passes, one each to Jy Green (14), Grant Burdette (65) and Stone (37).

A.J. Godfrey had a one-yard touchdown run, but the Spartans were held to 30 totals yards rushing in the ball game.

The Tigers rushed for 305 yards on the other hand, led by Preston Kovach with 185 yards and one score.

Trey Ward added two touchdowns and Austin Adkins scored once.

Quarterback Dakota Dalton threw for a pair of touchdowns, one to Ward and one to Austin Adkins.

Austin Adkins also had a 55-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Collins.

Chapmanville will travel to No. 1-seed Bridgeport for the quarterfinal round. Date and time to be announced Sunday.
