HS Soccer: Greenbrier East sweeps Regions 3 titles
Lady Spartans beat Herbert Hoover 4-1; East boys shutout Princeton 3-0

Fairlea - Wednesday was a great night for Greenbrier East soccer fans.

Hosting the girls and boys Class AAA Region 3 Soccer Championships, the Spartans dominated both contests to earn a berth in the State Soccer Tournament next week in Beckley.
In the opening match of the night Kiana McClung scored on a cross from Ava Workman to give Greenbrier East a 1-0 lead over Herbert Hoover at halftime.

Workman then put the match away for the Lady Spartans with a second half hat trick leading to a 4-1 win.
Senior Andrew Holt gave the East boys an early lead over Princeton when he scored his 34th career goal in the eighth minute and the Spartans never looked back.
August Vincent doubled the advantage on an assist from Holt seven minutes later for a 2-0 lead that stood at the break.
Vincent then made a 3-nil match in the second half on an assist from freshman Cooper Sabbag for the final margin.

The Greenbrier East girls will play in the morning session on Thursday, Nov. 6 on Carter Family Foundation Field, while the boys will play in the evening session the same day.
Times will be determined when the seedings are announced.
The Lady Spartans will be making their third (2015, 2017) state tournament appearance in school history. The boys will making their first appearance since winning the AAA state title in 2022.
