Independence Baseball standout Levi Barnett signs with WVU Tech

Barnett hit over .400 as as a senior for the Patriots and scored over 100 runs in his high school career

No matter which baseball uniform Levi Barnett has put on over the years, success has followed along with him.

WVU Tech is hoping some of that Barnett magic rubs off for the Golden Bears.

Tuesday evening with family, friends and teammates in attendance, Barnett made his commitment official, signing to play for WVU Teach.

The notable teams that the future Golden Bear has contributed to include the state champion Beckley Babe Ruth All-Stars, the 2024 Class AA state runner-up Independence and the 2025 American Legion state runner-up Beckley Bash.

As a senior this year for the Patriots, playing a grueling schedule, Barnett hit .419 with 17 extra base hits and 23 RBI out of the lead-off position. Barnett also scored 37 runs to go over 100 runs scored for his career at Independence.
