
Little League Baseball: Central Greenbrier beats Shady Spring for the District 4 title

Lewisburg - Friday night at Hollowell Park, Central Greenbrier looked to complete one more mission.
The task at hand was to win its second consecutive District 4 Little League All-Star Baseball championship.
The Greenbrier County lads came ready to play.
Scoring seven runs in the second inning, Central Greenbrier knocked off Shady Spring, 11-1 in five innings..
Both teams now advance to the West Virginia State Little League State Tournament starting July 11 in Elkins.
Shady Spring took the initial 1-0 lead on an RBI-single from Carter Cooper before Central Greenbrier answered with two runs in the bottom of the first. Both runs came without the aid of a base hit.

A pair of walks opened then the door for Central Greenbrier in the second frame. After the runners moved up a base on a wild pitch, Jax Parker singled home the first run of the uprising for a 3-1 lead.
The visitors appeared on the verge of escaping further damage after two straight strikeouts, but three consecutive walks and and a double from Zander Rodoussakis pushed the lead out to 7-1.
A wild pitch and an error gave Central Greenbrier a commanding 9-1 lead.
Rodoussakis and Trenton Skaggs each had two RBI's, while Cam Bechtel and Tucker Sibold both had one RBI.

Central Greenbrier made its way to the title game with a 5-1 win over Beckley, followed by wins over Trap Hill (10-0), Sophia (13-5) and Shady Spring (12-2) Wednesday night.
Shady Spring recorded wins over Bluefield (9-0), Princeton (11-6) and Sophia (8-3).
The state tournament schedule will be announced at a later date.
