Regional Cross Country: Layla Taylor from James Monroe wins the Class A Region 3 title

Taylor rallies to win the individual title by 30 seconds Saturday

Layla Taylor from James Monroe trailed early, but down the stretch the young freshman found her rhythm to win the Class A Region 3 individual title Saturday at Westside High School.

Mackenzie Kindle (Bluefield) was second, followed by Elise Yee (Liberty), Gracie Tooze (James Monroe) and Chasity Kennedy (River View) in 5th-place.

The remainder of the top-10 state meet qualifiers in order were Lexi Yee (Liberty), Kynzie Taylor (James Monroe), Kacie Hatfield (River View), Cari Kennedy (River View) and Jordan Trent (Wyoming East).
