
Regional Cross County: Shady Spring boys and Greenbrier East girls win AAA Region 3 titles

Huntington - Saturday morning at the Kennedy Center, the Shady Spring boys and the Greenbrier East girls walked away with the top spot at the AAA Region 3 Cross Country meet.

The Tigers placed all of their scoring runners in the top-15 to defeat second-place Ripley by 26 points.
Ethan Dowdy paced Shady Spring with a runner-up finish in a tight three-way battle to the line.
Caleb Rose followed in 4th-place of the team scoring runners and David Northrop was eighth.
Kyle Malay came home in 12th-place and Logan Malott finished in 14th place.
The PikeView trio of Luke Collis, Tyler Huffman and Eli Keaton, along with Grayson Adams from Greenbrier East qualified as individuals for the state meet Saturday at Cabell Midland High School.

The Lady Spartans brought home their title with a narrow two-point win over Herbert Hoover, followed by Shady Spring just 12 points shy of the top spot.
The top-3 teams qualified for the state meet.

All five runners for Greenbrier East finished in the top-11 of the team scoring runners.
Neena McClintic led the Lady Spartans in second-place, followed by Maddie Lilly (5), Carloline Perilli Hancock (8), Kate Adkins (10) and Jillian Styles (11).
The Tigers placed three scoring runners inside the top-10 paced by Baylee Garrett in 3rd-place, Bre Crouse in 7th-place and Raelyn Carr in 9th-place.
Berkley Davis finished in 12th-place and Kendal Wickline was 17th overall.
Carli Spade from PikeView finished in 8th-place to qualify as an individual, along with Madison Angus, Brayleigh Preast and Ada Hoover, all from Nicholas County.
