TRUST IN THE LORD: THE STORY OF OUR CAT BRUCE

April 13, 20263 min read

I TRUST IN GOD, MY SAVIOR, THE ONE WHO WILL NEVER FAIL ME

CROSS

Can God teach you a huge lesson through your cat? Truthfully God can use any situation to enlighten us, to enlighten me.

I kinda wear myself out sometimes with the why's in life. Why does God continue to love me when I can't even love myself at times? Why did Jesus have to suffer such a brutal death? Why did He come to earth at that specific time in history? Why did something bad happen to such a good person?
Why? Why? Why?

At times I feel like a small child with the constant questions.

So, that brings me to our cat Bruce.

One day when I was out of town and Blaine, my son, was away from the house, Bruce got out of the house. I left a window cracked open as I had done before, but this time he pushed through the screen and squeezed his way out.

Bruce is a black cat.

We have a trio of feral brothers outside that I have fed since they were kittens because their mother was killed by a car in our neighborhood. They hang around outside and are quite friendly with us.They are also black cats and Bruce has been infatuated with them. He sits at the glass door and they sit on the other side on the porch.

As it goes, curiosity must have gotten the best of him.

Needless to say, I was distraught. My son was distraught. My mom was distraught and blamed herself for having the window open.

I prayed to God to watch over Bruce and guide him back home. Mom prayed. To be perfectly honest, I wasn't sure this was God's department. I know God wants what's best for us, but I wasn't sure about a runaway cat.

I told God that, but I trusted Him and believed the situation would come out for good.

We had hoped Bruce was just hiding in the house, but that was not his normal actions. He was always with his mom, especially in the evening. He was a partner in crime with Thor. They were born just days apart and have been like brothers since they were tiny.

Bruce wasn't in the house.

Blaine searched the house, over and over, hoping he was somewhere. There was not a peep. For five days, no sign of Bruce.

I felt like he would show up to eat in the morning at least with the other feral cats.
They were there every morning, but no Bruce.

I kept praying. Mom prayed.

After five days, I received a text from Blaine that Bruce was back. Naturally I praised God and told Blaine I had been praying. I found out later that day about Mom praying also over that period.

While the answered prayer was a lesson, it was not "the" lesson.
You see, Bruce just came walking into the living room from the kitchen that day.

He just appeared.

There was no way for him to get in the house on his own. We still have no idea on the "how", in regards to him just showing up.

At first the other cats were not receptive, but soon they were all back to normal with him.

There is no doubt that he was gone over that time period. Blaine and I have tried to figure out the situation, but there is nothing evident to show how he just up and appeared.

So, what was the lesson?

The lesson that came from God was loud and clear, my son, you don't have to know or understand the why, you just have to trust Me.

Wow! I was very overwhelmed by it all to say the least, but God has been doing that a lot lately.

Lesson learned.

I trust Him with my life and I know he has even the smallest details of my life under His control. That in itself is very overwhelming.

Who am I that He, the creator of the universe, would keep His watchful eye on me?? On us??

Overwhelming to say the least.

Praise God!! Jesus is THE WAY!!
